Over 1,230 children and families joined us for Open House Junior 2013 to design, draw and build London’s city-scape!
Open-City believe that the best way to understand and appreciate the value of good design is to visit the physical buildings and places, and that children should have the opportunity to engage with and be inspired by their city too! Open House Junior is Open-City's family programme to Open House London. Inspiring the next generation of Londoners about the great buildings of the city, the junior programme was full of fun and free architectural activities.
Details for the 2014 programme will be announced in due course.
The Archikids Corner
All weekend Leadenhall Market was busy with the junior activities of Skyline Shadow Show, Centre Cane City, Bird City and ArchiGames, forming the activities hub of Open House Junior. Children and families worked together with artists, architects and designers to learn about and make the creative places and spaces of the City.
Sculpture in the City
Inspired by the famous sculptures on the doorstep of Leadenhall Market such as by Robert Indiana, Anthony Gormley, and the Chapman Brothers and the family workshop exploded into a giant viewing structure to view the artworks. Part of the Sculpture in the City 2013 project.
City of a Thousand Architects
Children became architects for the day at City’s Hall ‘London Living Room’ and helped build London’s skyline full of skyscrapers, stadiums, and skyrockets in this fun drop-in session.
