Young City Makers
Whole primary year groups develop their collaboration and model-making skills together with their understanding of their role in shaping their city. Across in-school workshops and a trip to explore a new part of the city, this Open City programme brings learning to life. A shared celebration event at the end of the programme brings teachers, students and parents together to enjoy their achievements and develop their public speaking skills. They also each collect a ‘key to the city’ medal and a personal certificate.
In the coming academic year, this programme will run in the autumn term for more than 25 schools in East London. With no government funding, we are extremely grateful for the support of Arup, Frame, Foundation for Future London, Knight Dragon, Tower Hamlets and the GLA to make this programme possible. In West London, it runs in the Summer term, for 9 schools in Hammersmith & Fulham supported by The Earls Court Development Company and for 12 schools in Brent and Westminster supported by The John Lyons Charitable Trust.
